PTC200 (MJ Research)

Contributed by Dr. Alexei Gratchev

I started to use this type of cycler about 8 years ago. Since this time I changed 3 labs and everywhere we worked with PTC200. The cycler is robust, fast, relatively easy to use, and quite universal. You need one main unit and several different blocks and then you can change your cycler to in situ, or gradient cycler or even into 2 cyclers if you use a dual block. Temperature control can be done on the block level, external probe level or calculated according to the sample volume.

The only disadvantage I can see is a relatively high price (about € 10000 for the main unit with a dual block). Another minor problem is not completely intuitive programming which becomes simple when one get used to it.
